Dr. Jim Stiling was a highly respected ob/gyn physician with The Permanente Medical Group and a member of the Green Valley Country Club.  Tall and athletic, Jim had a gift for making every person feel like he or she was his best friend.  He played in our first nine golf tournaments and he often played the course with me the week beforehand so that we could make last minute decisions about how to make The Surge even more enjoyable for our guests.  Regretfully, Jim passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in 2007 several months before our tenth annual tournament.  In his honor, the perpetual Jim Stiling Memorial Award will be presented to the winning foursome from our 18 hole event every year.  We will miss Jim tremendously and pledge to do our best to enjoy life and golf the way Jim did - with humility, grace, and a smile.  We were honored that Jim's brother, Greg Stiling, was able to travel from North Carolina to present this award in 2007, 2008, and 2010..
